Computer vision, ecology, and science communication

Hi, I’m Antoine Salaün. I am 25 years old and I grew up in Paris. I am insterested in computer vision, ecosystems, and science outreach.

At MIT’s BeeryLab, I create interpetable AI models to re-identify elephants and support conservation. After 6 months in the lab, I am about to start a PhD in this same lab.

Before that, I wrote my master thesis on fairness in concept bottleneck models. My academic path started with a Physics bachelor at EPFL, followed by a master’s in Computational Science.

I run a YouTube channel, Antoine vs Science, where I explore the miracles of science. I founded VERSUS, 3-employees documentary production company and I’ve hosted a chronicle on Couleur 3 (swiss national radio). I have recently directed Zoonose, a documentary shot in the Amazon (awarded at the international science film festival). I give hands-on science communication workshops for researchers at University of Lausanne.

My dream ? Have one foot in academia, pushing the frontiers of knowledge, and the other in the media industry, inspiring curiosity through storytelling.
